About Us

The goal of the Friends of the Herbarium at EWU is to coordinate student volunteers to maintain the EWU herbarium, contribute new specimens to the collections, and increase biodiversity knowledge in our community while forming connections between people who are interested in plants, fungi, lichen, algae, and bryophytes.

Members Benefits

Members can participate in real-world botanical research projects, enhancing scientific methodology and species identification skills, which benefit academic growth and careers in environmental science, conservation, and biology.

Join a community of passionate plant enthusiasts, fostering a sense of community and personal growth. This can lead to new opportunities, collaborative projects, and supportive professional networks.

Field trips allow club members to observe plants in their natural habitats, deepening their appreciation for plant diversity and ecology. These experiences foster community and create lasting memories for plant conservation.

Engage in hands-on activities like collecting, pressing, and preserving plant specimens to deepen understanding of plant biology and ecology, and create educational and rewarding herbarium specimens for botanical study and conservation.
